Thing 8: Share your creations

As you can see from my Picture Trail and Bling I had fun with this program. It would be fun to use this to share pictures of the books for book club. Most of the sites were easy to manipulate - I still need to sink some time in them if I want to get really fancy. Yes I would recommend to others. I am just learning about sharing tools while doing this activity.

Thing 7: Web 2.0 Communication Tools

Email: I have one email account that is supplied by my school. This is the one and only account because it is a time hog and I can't imagine having to check two. Email can be good and bad. Some days I can check it every hour and other days I haven't got time to check it until the end of the day. I find that email can be unreliable. I starting to use it less and less as a communication tool and more as a back up to another form of communication.

IM: Small school limited resources and personel make IM a non-tool for communication.

Text Messaging: I've seen text messaging and know about it but I do not use it and can not see it working in schools with the trouble of having cell phones in school.

Web Conferencing: OPAL (high interest books for low interest readers) - web conferencing is a great way to communicate without the travel. I have been very hesitant about joining a web conference but will feel more comfortable now that I know some more about the process.

Thing 6: More with Flickr

Is there no end to the creativity? My favorite sight to visit is Image Chef - I put a cute little heart on my blog. I also made a blog for my son's soccer team and used the soccer jersey "image" to create jerseys with their first name and jersey number. I was able to even make them the corresponding color.

Thing 5: Mashups

Had fun with the Flickr Toys. Made a Warholizer of my youngest son's baby picture and used the Flickr Spell. I also explored Splashr and made a fun presentation for popsicles. Click on My Presentation under Splashr -Popsicles.

Thing 4: Flickr

The more I learn the more I realize how little I know. What a great "place." Signed up for another account and downloaded our trip to Colorado Skiing. Emailed my family about viewing photos - I've been putting off sending pictures through email because it is such a hassle. I tagged all my photos with Colorado, Christmas and the date. I will need to transfer all my pictures but first I need to finish 23 Things:)

Thing 3: RSS Feed

Spent a lot of time looking for blogs to put on my Google Reader. I did find some good blogs on book clubs and am interested in what other book clubs are reading. A blog would be a good way to get information about the book club to parents. I could update when I needed, wouldn't have to make the newsletter deadline and would not have to send out emails. I used Google Reader and managed well with this "reader."

Thing 2: Web 2.0

I am at the beginning stages of using Web 2.0 tools. This is one of the reasons I took the time to look through 23 Things on a Stick and decide on whether to participate. Participating in this project allows me time to look at these technologies. As I was reading some of the comments I was happy to note that I am not the only one that becomes confused with all the acronyms. I too am going to place the Webopedia (glossary of web 2.0 terms and acronyms) in my blog.
